Rakvere and Aqva Spa

Rakvere (about 130 km and 1.5h drive from Tartu) is famous for it’s castle on Vallimägi hill and the largest animal statue – Tarvas – located on the edge of Vallimägi hill.

Värska

Alatskivi castle

The snow white Neo-Gothic castle (built in 1880-1885) in the Heard of Alatskivi was inspired by the Balmoral castle in Scotland. In 2011 the completely restored castle was opened to the public. Today, the visitors of the castle can admire the fascinating interior and learn about the history of the building and living in it, or just enjoy the surrounding park and hiking trails.

Viljandi

77 km from Tartu (about 1h drive), this adorable little town boasts impressive castle ruins, a former home of the ruling Livonian Order. The scenic views of the nearby lake and wooden architecture makes Viljandi a place of interest to both nature and culture lovers. The cherry on top of the cake is the large nearby lake beach, offering boat rentals and regular trips.
